In addition to the official 908 HDi FAP programme, there will be plenty going on this year at Peugeot Sport on the sports promotion front too, especially following the launch of three new models based on the 207, namely the 207 Super 2000, the 207 Spider and the 207 Light Weight.
THE 207 SUPER 2000: homologated on February 1
Unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Show, the 207 RCUP provided a foretaste of the Super 2000 which started life in Peugeot Sport's workshops last March. As part of the development programme of this feline newcomer – which is aimed at Peugeot subsidiaries and privateer – it took part as a 'zero car' in the 2006 Antibes and Condroz Rallies. Since then, testing has continued and the 207 Super 2000 recently received the FIA's indispensable seal of approval in the form of official homologation on February 1, 2007.
Orders for around twenty cars have already been taken from subsidiaries and privateer buyers looking to compete either in the IRC or at national level. Their numbers include Peugeot Spain who will run two cars in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge for Spaniard Enrique Garcia Ojeda and France's Nicolas Vouilloz. Meanwhile, Peugeot Italy, Peugeot Portugal, Peugeot Sweden and private preparation outfits such as Enjolras Sport in France will campaign a 207 Super 2000 in national championships.
In a bid to optimise service, all cars are built in Peugeot Sport's workshops in the presence of the buyers' own mechanics who in this way benefit from sound training.
SPIDER 207: early entries
The first entries have already come in for the inaugural Spider Cup which will run as curtain-raiser at rounds of the Le Mans Series, plus two other appearances in France (the WTCC meeting at Pau and the FFSA Super Série fixture at Magny-Cours). Early French entrants include Julien Briché and the outgoing RC Cup Champion Dino Lunardi, while notable international entries include the United Kingdom's Simon Molton. In addition to the top prize of a 207 CC, the winner of the 2007 Spider Cup will win a day of testing with the 908.
Prospective buyers of the €42,000 Spider 207 (pre-tax price) will be given the opportunity to test-drive the car in the Paris region (Contact Pascal GIRAL, +33 1 30 70 22 90).

207 LIGHT WEIGHT: a quality field
Organised within the framework of the ever-popular 'Peugeot Sport Rencontres' meetings, the 207 Sprint Cup looks likely to attract a full field. Orders for more than 30 cars – which include an entry in the Cup – have already been taken. Powered by the same 1.6-litre THP engine as that chosen for the Spider, the 207 Light Weight has already proved a huge success and this promises to continue into 2008 when it will join the packed fields of the Relay Races.
The 207 Sprint stands out as the first step of Peugeot Sport's circuit racing driver grooming scheme and both the outright winner and the best-placed junior (aged under 25) at the end of the season will win a prize Spider.

RALLYING AND CIRCUIT RACING WITH THE 206
Other Peugeot Sport sports promotion activities in 2007 include the ongoing single-make series with the Peugeot 206 Cup and the 206 RCC in rallying and circuit racing respectively.
Based on the 206 XS, the French Peugeot 206 Cup is the only one-make rally series to offer such genuine diversity, with an eight-round calendar in 2007 divided equally between asphalt and gravel fixtures. The best-placed crew at the end of the year will win a 207 RC road car.

The 206 RCC Cup race series remains loyal to the FFSA-run Super Série package but also features in the programmes of the WTCC round at Pau and the 'Peugeot Sport Rencontres' meeting at Spa. At the end of the season, the champion will be awarded a Spider 207 to compete in the following year's Cup.
