I was given a 405 GLX 1996 only a couple of months ago and I cannot complain, it has the usual age and mileage problems and so far it is a real luxury for me to have so much power and a comfortable ride!

Regards Peter.

Unless you keep them maintained properly, in which case the XUD was/is probably the most reliable and long lived oil burner out there..... (he says, touching wood with crossed fingers!!!)

'92 1.9 GRD, 115k - 15k to head gasket blow if you believe the critics!!!

I will add though that maybe the electrics can be a little on the 'characterful' (is that even a word?) side.... My list goes - rev counter, oil/water/stop lights and central locking only working when THEY choose, which can be a bit embarrasing having to rip the boot trim out to open the flap before I can fuel up!!!

I won't argue with you there

Ive had a K reg 405 turbo diesel for 3 years, and have enjoyed it very much. very comforatble, powerful, reliable.

It did have an expensive service last year do to a split steering rack gaiter, and at the moment beeps at me when I corner. Apart from that I think its great.

No, it isn't possible, it would ruin the looks Wink
